Fuengirola has just opened the Costa del Sol’s first river park. Located near the Castillo Sohail and the Miramar shopping centre on the western end of the town.

this new park not only beautifies the western end of Fuengirola, it should have a long term impact on Fuengirola property in the area.

The 520 metres of river bed has been reclaimed to allow for many recreational activities including rafting on the river bed, and is surrounding by green areas and areas designated for recreational sports including children playgrounds, basketball courts, bowls, bicycle paths and more.

In addition to this the next phase of the project is about to start which will continue along the river bank up to the border of Municipality of Mijas.

This project, which has been valued at 1.2 million euros is the latest stage in revamping the west side of Fuengirola and it is hoped that in the future a municipal aquatic sports school.

The project has been funded by the Fuengirola town hall, the Junta de Andalucía and the central government.
