Markets get make-over

marketFuengirola council is looking to improve the markets, as part of an initiative to increase tourism.

The weekly Tuesday market held in the fairground, has 504 stalls, and is one of the biggest and varied throughout Andalucía. The Saturday and Sunday markets also attract thousands of visitors, both tourists and residents, all year round. A special cleaning operation is due to get under way as part of the plans. The overall look of the markets is also to be improved, with the stalls to be located in a more uniformed style, with stall holders having up to six months to adapt to the changes. In addition, licences will also not be automatically renewed, and the allocation of pitches will be made “on a much fairer basis.”
